The Frýdštejn castle ruins
The ruined castle of Frýdštejn is one of three castles in the Jablonec district. We do not know the exact date of foundation, nor are we sure for certain when the Frýdštejn demesne itself was actually created.
The main feature of the castle is its large castle tower, built on the highest rock in such a way that the whole surrounding area could be seen. The tower is the best-preserved part of the castle. It is around 15 metres high and 9 metres in diameter. The walls are two metres thick.
The castle is currently owned by the village of Frýdštejn. Costly preservation work is gradually being undertaken to try and make sure that the castle is maintained in its current appearance for future generations.
