Our tips

Petřín

Petřín is today's name for a lookout restaurant at the southern periphery of Jablonec, in the area of the former village of Vrkoslavice. The site was fated for a lookout restaurant (originally called "Zur Nickelkoppe") because there are few places that offer a more breath-taking view of the whole Jablonec basin than Petřín. The restaurant was built and inaugurated in 1906. Richard Felinghauer first owned this Secessionist style building. Petřín served its original purpose until 1945 and then, until the mid 60s, there was an orphanage. After that was run as a sightseeing restaurant by a state controlled enterprise called "Restaurace a jídelny". In 1993 the place was closed down and the building started to deteriorate. After a thorough reconstruction in 2000 the building is open again.
