The Riedel Villa and gardens

Famous glassmaking entrepreneur Josef Riedel Junior had this family villa built in the style of a grand north Italian residence in 1893 and 1894. The villa stands on the site of a former curative spa, which was founded and run by local doctor Dr. Josef Schindler based on the model of the Preissnitz spa. The ground floor of the Riedel Villa is currently home to a nursery school, whilst the first floor houses a Culture Centre and a museum about the history of Desná, with samples of products made by local businesses. Visitors will also find the town library here, offering access to the Internet.
