Tips for 7 days in Jablonec nad Nisou and surrounding area

You have taken up our invitation to visit the town of glass and costume jewellery and we hope that the time you spend here will bring you the pleasure of a wonderful holiday. What, then, does our town have to offer? Active recreation will allow visitors to get to known this small town in the mountains, as well as the beautiful and pure nature of the Jizera Mountains. The Jizera Mountains are a magnet for cyclists and hikers in the summer and for cross-country skiers in winter. And what about culture? The town is full of unmissible traces of Art Nouveau, Functionalism, and neo-Renaissance. Visiting our small town and its surroundings also means learning more about the history of over six hundred years of glassmaking tradition. The history of the glass and costume jewellery business not only covers the development of glass production, but is reflected in a number of well-preserved cultural monuments.

Jablonec nad Nisou is a world-renowned hub of glassmaking and costume jewellery, a town that can boast a unique cultural attraction that has no equal in the country - the newly reconstructed Museum of Glass and Costume Jewellery. The exhibition entitled "The Charming World of Costume Jewellery" presents the development of costume jewellery in the Jablonec area from its origins to the present day, the finishing touches to the atmosphere added by period clothing and items that map out the history and stories of the people of Jablonec and its surroundings. The exhibits known as "The Magic Garden" and "Seven Centuries of Bohemian Glass" consist of eight display units. As part of this lyrical story visitors can see the historic transformations of glass from the Middle Ages onwards and items of Bohemian designer glass.

Jablonec nad Nisou is also a prominent centre of sport. So why not join us for some sport? You can attend top division football matches and outstanding athletics meets, whilst cross-country skiers and biathlon enthusiasts truly come into their own here. During the summer you can swim at the dam only a short distance from the town centre. Look around and be inspired.
