Kodešova Skála

The natural monument called Kodešova Skála is a well- established basalt massif. Due to quarrying, columnar cleat was revealed, characterized by relatively rare fan-shaped basalt columns.

The very attractive basalt outcrop called Kodešova Skála is situated in Heřmanice, just at the road from Dětřichov. The rock formation is distinctive for organ-shaped basalt columns arranged like a fan. The rock was revealed during mining activities in the former Goth Mine. The Kodešova Skála was named after Otakar Kodeš, a teacher form Frýdlant. He was a member of the National Defence and was shot in this locality in 1938 by a Sudeten soldier.
