To Ještěd comfortably by tram, bus, or on foot

By tram all the way to Horní Hanychov

From Liberec city center, the tram runs to the final stop Horní Hanychov tram line No. 3. It connects Lidové sady, the city center, Fügnerova terminal, the train station, and Horní Hanychov, running all day at regular intervals – approximately every 7 to 10 minutes during peak hours, and usually every 10 to 15 minutes off-peak.

A standard public transport ticket is sufficient for the tram journey. However, if you plan to continue by tourist bus to Ještědka, it's worth purchasing a ticket “To another zone – Ještěd”, which is also valid for the connecting bus and is cheaper than two separate tickets.

Tourist bus No. 79

From April 3 to November 1, 2026 the seasonal bus line 79, which connects with tram No. 3 arrivals in Horní Hanychov. The bus also stops at the cable car and Výpřež, with its final stop at Ještědka car park, from where it's approximately 750 meters or about 20 minutes walk.

Service operates:

• April and October – on weekends and public holidays,
• May to September – daily,
• July and August – increased service approximately every 30 minutes,
• in other months of the season, typically on an hourly basis.

The bus is wheelchair accessible, but it is not designed for bicycle transport.

To the summit on foot

If you want to fully enjoy your trip, you can set off on foot from Horní Hanychov.

The shortest route leads below the former cable car. It measures approximately 2.2 kilometers and is only suitable during the summer season, as it becomes a ski slope in winter.

Also accessible year-round is the blue-marked hiking trail, which measures approximately 3.4 kilometers and leads through the forest with a gentler ascent.

Another option is to use the Skalka chairlift, from where it's approximately 1.8 kilometers on foot. We recommend checking the current operation of the cable car before your trip.

If you're planning a trip to Ještěd on summer weekends or during holidays, public transport is usually the most convenient way to avoid traffic jams and searching for a free parking spot.
