In the Jizera Mountains, for example, you will find a plethora of nature trails that will entertain both children and adults. In our section TRIPS you can choose from many planned routes, on which you will find a lot of interesting places. In addition, they are suitable for families with children — you can tell by the family symbol in the lower left corner. Choose the route that is closest to you, call the mountains and you can go!
If you are in Liberec, one day with your family will not be enough for you. Smaller explorers, up to about 8 years of age, will have a lot of fun on the four floors IQPark. The exposition, located here, will bring the little ones closer to the world of water, the human body, the world of laboratories or help them choose their dream profession in a fun way! You can also visit a mini-exhibition about the Jizera Mountains. For the elderly, there is a science center directly opposite Babylon iQlandia, aimed at popularizing science. Over an area of more than 4000 m! 2 They will find 11 different thematic expositions — get to know the human body, the universe or the natural elements better! Here you can try all sorts of physical or chemical experiments on your own and thus return to school desks together with your children.
With the whole family you can plan a stay in BABYLON Center. Here you will find a huge water park, in which both children and adults will have fun. Children will enjoy the atmosphere of verneovets, water slides and adrenaline funnel, wild river or water slides, while parents relax in the Sauna World, in the hot tubs or in the relaxation zone. Right from the water park you can go to relax in the summer on the huge Solní terrace, where you will have Liberec and Ještěd in the palm of your hand. In Babylon, children will also find the Funpark, where they will find a huge number of attractions that will test their agility and movement skills. They enjoy themselves on climbing slides, slides or trampolines. In the local Lunapark, children will enjoy a pilgrimage every day of the year, for example, at the autodrome, during the taming of a wild bull or mini golf.
Action and adventure lovers will also enjoy themselves in Liberec Mercuria Laser Games. You can embark on an adventurous event in the Three Worlds arena - it combines an ice plain, a volcanic valley and a green forest - in the midst of it all, a hot volcano awaits. For those who like to know their physical boundaries, a laser maze is ready. Like thieves in action movies, can you weave through a tangle of dangerous laser beams without raising an alarm? For lovers of arcade games, there is also a room full of all sorts of slot machines. And if you want to try virtual reality — there is no problem here!
The Jizera Mountains are also famous for their rich glassmaking history, which children enjoy too. They can string beads, learn how glass and jewellery are made, or try creating something of their own. Stop by with them, for example, at the Museum of Glass and Jewellery in Jablonec nad Nisou. Children are guided through the museum by Sklobížek the elf, who shows them how glass, beads and jewellery stones are made and takes them to the museum train or the glass aquarium. At the ticket desk, they can pick up the Sklobížek or Muzejníček worksheets and string their own bracelet at the bead stand. On selected days, creative workshops for children are also held in the studio.
For beads and glassmaking experiences, head also to G&B Beads in Jablonec nad Nisou. In the local bead-making museum, children and adults learn how glass beads are made, and in the creative workshops they can make their own bracelet or a bead picture. Creative workshops for children are also offered by Glassunicum in Smržovka, where they can make bracelets, glass flowers or dream catchers. At the Beadgame shop in Alšovice, they can create pictures from glass beads and stones or string their own bead bracelet. And if you want to discover the work of today's local glassmakers and jewellers, head to Křišťálový ráj (Crystal Paradise) in Jablonec nad Nisou.
The North Bohemian Museum in Liberec is not just for adults. Children can discover interesting facts from history and the world around us through special programmes, workshops, puppet shows or craft Sundays. The exhibitions also come with materials for young visitors, helping them explore the museum in their own way.
For art, head to Galerie Lázně Liberec, where children can get involved in the exhibitions far more actively than just by looking at paintings. Creative workshops, interactive programmes and children's vernissages await, letting them experience the gallery a little differently. For the youngest visitors, there are programmes tailored to their age.
The Jizera Mountains have plenty to offer little technology enthusiasts. At the Technical Museum Liberec, children can see historic cars, motorcycles, trams, buses and bicycles. In the new children's workshop, they can try being a little model maker, assemble their own technical model from prepared parts and take it home. The museum also holds Saturday creative workshops and prepares fairy-tale tours for its youngest visitors, letting them discover technology through stories and games. Outside, an RC track, locomotives, a playground and a small traffic playground await.
Train lovers will get their fill at Výtopna Kořenov, where they can learn about the history of the rack railway and see historic rolling stock. On selected dates, they can also ride historic trains or try a ride on the mining train.
For cars and motorcycles, head to the AUTOMOTO Museum Lučany, where you can see sports and racing cars and other exhibits from the world of motoring. The Jizerskohorské technické muzeum (Jizera Mountains Technical Museum) in Bílý Potok presents historic technology, aircraft engines, the original engine room and boiler house, and an exhibition dedicated to textile production.
If you have little explorers at home, take them to the Botanical Garden in Liberec, where they will suddenly find themselves in a mysterious jungle. They can examine hungry carnivorous plants eyeing little flies up close, or admire the giant Victoria water lilies that could carry quite a load. Another draw that will delight children and adults alike are the aquariums, where exotic fish circle overhead and the colourful underwater world looks like something out of Finding Nemo!
