Discover the unique Kořenov heating plant — a place where you will meet the history of not only the cog railway
.avif)
Head to Kořenov for a glimpse of the renovated 1903 heating plant that served the legendary cog railway line running from Tanvald through Kořenov to present-day Poland. This technical monument has undergone a sensitive restoration and today serves as a background for historical rolling stock, among which there are also rare “Austrians”, i.e. motorized gear locomotives T 426.0. In addition, here you will find no less interesting expositions that are worth going through. As part of the guided tour, you will get acquainted with the history of the construction, you will see the illuminated gear wheel and other railway technology that is still in use today during nostalgic rides on the only toothed track in the Czech Republic.
Last but not least, you can also find a separate Museum of the Cog Railway nearby - or you can take a ride in Zubačka on selected dates. And the little ones can also take a ride on the local mine train!
Výtopna in Kořenov is therefore a great destination for lovers of technical monuments as well as for families with children — and one of the places that gives the railway history of the Jizera Mountains a whole new dimension.
