State Castle and Chateau Frýdlant

On the basalt rock above the river Smědou rises the landmark of the town of Frýdlant, State Castle and Chateau Frýdlant. The vast architectural complex of a medieval castle and a Renaissance chateau is one of the most important monuments in Bohemia. At the same time, it is the oldest castle museum in Central Europe, since it opened its doors to the public in 1801. In addition to the usual collections of castle furniture and equipment, the exposition also includes an extensive collection of weapons, a unique office, a children's room, a castle bathroom or a preserved kitchen.
