Toothed Railway Museum

The uniqueness of the track lies in the fact that it is one of the last surviving “normal gauge” cog tracks in Europe. At the same time, it is the steepest railway line in Bohemia. In the section from Tanvald to Kořenov, the track has a slope of up to 58 permile for almost seven kilometres. It is for this reason that in critical sections of the climb the Abt gear was designed, consisting of two gear strips placed between the tracks, fed by the gears of the locomotive and fitted into the teeth of the gear.
