    Tips for trips

    Ladovska winter on a sleigh

Winter Jizerky is not only for lovers of white tracks, but also for brisk downhill rides. If you love winter in its playful form, you should definitely not miss the natural toboggan run from Černá Studnica, the only one of its kind in the entire Jizera Mountains. The route measures almost 4 kilometers, surpasses an elevation of 316 meters and offers an unexpectedly varied experience - fast sections that make your heart beat faster, as well as quieter passages suitable for enjoying the winter landscape.

The track leads along landscaped municipal and forest paths to the Filip ski lift in Smržovka and is ideal for all enthusiasts from children to the elderly.

Want to enjoy carefree bobbing or sledding? Head to the stadium in Bedřichov, where you will find a popular slope groomed under good snow conditions Jizerská o.p.s. Thanks to artificial lighting, you can ride a sled until 21 o'clock, which makes Bedřichov an ideal place for family frolicking and winter fun after work. Just arrive and get carried away by the atmosphere that will make sledding an exceptional winter experience.

A great place for families with children can also be found in Albrechtice in the Jizera Mountains, near Světlá vrch. Surely here you will come to the rainbow with a small lift over the “Barn,” where there is plenty of room not only for sledges or bobsleds.

    Frozen Ice Kingdom of Jizerek

The Jizera Mountains turn into breathtaking scenery on the frosty days. A solid ice surface will cover the dams, a blanket of snow will envelop the trees, and the waterfalls will stop and turn into huge icicles.

Skating on natural ice: Fojtka and Mšeno

If the winter frosts strike in full force, the Fojtka Dam in Mníšek and the Jablonec Dam Mšeno will turn into natural ice arenas. They are among the most popular places for open-air skating -- with views of snowy nature and an atmosphere that has no competition.

But before you go, always check the condition of the ice. The latter must be at least 10-12 cm so that the level is safe for people to move. Ice may vary in its quality at different locations of the dam, so we recommend extra caution and respect for natural conditions.

Icebergs: winter scenery of Bolshoi Stolpic

However, a spectacular winter spectacle is offered by the falls of Bolshoi Stolpich, where water springs turn into giant ice organs. Icefalls arise not only on the waterfall itself, but also on the surrounding rock walls.

The site is coveted by ice climbers -- athletes who push their limits on frozen water. But ice climbing is a discipline that requires experience, training and professional equipment. Likewise, the path to the icebergs itself can be challenging, as the trails are often covered by ice and snow. Therefore, go here only with good footwear, winter gear and a high dose of caution.
