The Neo-Renaissance building, reminiscent of the Vienna City Hall, was built according to the project of the Viennese architect F. Neumann. The building was built in 1888-1893 by the firm Sachers and Gärtner. The town hall tower, which is 61 meters high and is topped by a sculpture of a knight and a balustraded balcony, attracts attention. Many famous personalities such as Emperor Franz Joseph I and President Václav Havel spoke from there. The building is distinguished by its richly decorated façade, stained glass windows and a magnificent ceremonial hall, which is an example of precise craftsmanship. The ceremony hall is dominated by a 450 kg chandelier from Berlin. Liberec City Hall has been declared a national cultural monument.
