Settlement Jizerka is protected as a village heritage reserve and forms one of the parts of the village of Kořenov. The settlement lies at an altitude of 862 meters and is the highest settlement in the Jizera Mountains. The name of the settlement was given by the flowing stream Jizerka. In the past, the place also bore the name Vilém's Height, which was derived from the son of the owner of the then manor, Clam-Gallas. However, this name did not live up. William Clam-Gallas is known to this day for his tragic fate, as he was accidentally shot while hunting at a young age and died as a result of his injuries. Among the significant milestones of this place are two events. The first is the discovery of gems on the Sapphire stream, a tributary of the Jizera. Especially prospectors from Italy came here for the precious stones. The second significant event was the founding of the first glass smelter by Franz Anton Riedel in the settlement in 1828.
