Trniště Rock Formation

Rock formation Thorns near Hašler's cottage in Janov nad Nisou is a quiet and mysterious place that has been attracting tourists since the end of the 19th century. The 15-metre-high observation granite rock was accessed at the time by means of steps carved into the stone and an observation platform with railings. Although today the view is partially obscured by mature trees, the atmosphere of the place remains unique.

There are many legends associated with the rock — according to one, there is a treasure hidden inside, to which the gate opens only on Good Friday. Another legend speaks of wild women and grey men who at night hand out pine cones to the poor, which turn into gold on the way home.
