National Nature Reserve Jizerka Peat is spread at an altitude of around 880 meters. The Jizerka river meanders freely through the reserve, with its tributaries - the Stub, Clay and Sapphire streams. Extreme climatic conditions prevail in the area. Average annual temperatures reach only 4°C, winter temperatures regularly drop below -30°C (in 1940 a temperature of -42°C was measured in the nearby Jizerka). Rainfall also exceeds normal standards, the annual totals at the precipitation measuring station in Jizerka are usually 1600 mm (in 1926 the annual total was 2201 mm).
